Narro is a Chrome extension that reads the page you're on in a natural AI voice, highlighting each sentence as it is spoken and scrolling along with you. It can remember your place on every page, start from any sentence, and be controlled from the toolbar in any tab. Voices can run entirely in the browser with no account (Kokoro, Supertonic 2, Piper, Kitten TTS Nano), or come from cloud providers using your own API key, including OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Google Gemini and OpenRouter. It also supports any OpenAI-compatible local speech server and system voices. Narro can read Kindle Cloud Reader books using on-device text recognition (Tesseract), turning pages automatically. It has no analytics, accounts or servers of its own, and API keys stay in the browser. Narro is free and open source under the MIT licence.
