Our take: Serial vibe entrepreneur Paulius has a bunch of interesting projects. Today we're reviewing an app that supports the work of other creators, and it's one of our favorites.
Clockout is a stylish productivity tool that combines several interesting features into a sum that's greater than its parts. The most basic user loop is the focus timer: set a time period, pick a task (coding, marketing, or design) and hit start to enter focus mode. The screen dims, lo-fi music starts, and you're ready to get into flow state. Nothing revolutionary, but it works perfectly.
Things start to get interesting with the other features. A project tracker lets you define a revenue goal and date, which then populates a "freedom target" - the amount of time remaining and the amount of revenue left for your goal. Very motivating. But our favorite feature is the ability to create your own room - which allows you to pick a favorite YouTube video - which plays fullscreen in the background, then turns on audio when you start focus mode. It's incredibly cool to throw up a favorite Boiler Room DJ mix, start the clock and lock in for a session.
There's even some social interaction in the product - the right rail shows you other builders using the app at the same time, which is very motivating. The entire experience just feels very conducive to doing good work.
There's an even richer array of features like run streaks and consistency calendars, but for us its the atmosphere that makes Clockout so cool. This is a product that we intend to use daily.
